One On One Kicking Has New Coach In Miami

Hey South Florida ! One On One Kicking is proud to announce that Coach Jesse Ohilger will be running training sessions down in Miami. Coach Ohilger is a former NFL Kicker who has been signed by the Falcons, Rams, Bears, Eagles, and Ravens. Coach Ohliger was also part of the Miami Hurricanes football team in the early 2000s. This past Sunday One On One Kicking was busy with training sessions all over the country. Sessions took place in Florida, Texas, Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio to name a few. But in Daytona Beach, Florida there was only one Lou Groza Award Winner getting some work in and coaching some of the high school trainees. Here are some pictures.

Motivation to Strengthen Personal Performance

Good read for you guys. Received this from a Sports Psychologist.

Some interesting findings from new research about using negative feedback from opponents or rivals as motivation to strengthen personal performance. New research within the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology shows that people can recover from poor performance when rivals comment on their failures. While criticism from one's own team members sends individuals into downward performance spirals, external criticism (from opponents, rivals in business) can be a trigger that boosts performance as people try to prove the outsiders wrong.

Negative outside feedback, then, needn't be a destructive force. Good for kickers to be reminded that such criticism can be reworked as motivation for future performance. Having conversations with athletes about this is a powerful first step in allowing them to take control over how they interpret external feedback.
